Bid & Auction
Businesses are organized into
communities, (using SIC identification), linking existing and emerging
business communities into seamless networks of local, regional, national,
and international businesses. This network will improve business opportunities
while strengthening participating communities by increasing local multipliers
and generating revenues for community non profit organizations. View

One of the major factors causing economic deterioration within cities today
is that little of the local consumer spending continues to circulate within
the community. The damage can be reversed and this trend redirected through
the use of a system of linked business-to-business sites that act to improve
local business communications, while insuring that markets remain efficient
with competitive pricing.
Local Heroes offers local and regional suppliers an advantage over
national and international suppliers in a local market by allowing
these companies, if they desire, to revise their bid once the first
round bidding is complete. This insures competitive prices to the buyer
but offers local suppliers the option of meeting the low bid if they
can. At the same time local companies will be able to bid on projects
outside their normal business areas on a near equal footing with local
companies in these areas. This increases the exchange between small
and medium sized companies located in geographically distant areas
of the country or anywhere in the world.
Community alliances are currently focusing on building networks locally.
Initially, the service will be marketed to these organizations such as: Local
Business Alliances, Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, civic-minded organizations,
local governments, or directly to individual companies (for nodes set up
in key cities and towns by the company). These organizations already have
existing networks of companies, and have an interest too in promoting local
business through relationship building. We expect these organizations to
publicize this new service both to members and to non-members.
The separation between buyers and sellers requires some standardization
of company ratings. Company's qualification formats include references
to professional accreditations including information on prior customers,
special bonding, financial health, incorporation status, as well as financial
statements. Registration requires listing of references to prior customers
allowing buyers to follow-up if need be to assure quality standards are
met. In addition, Local Heroes will establish a system of ratings based
customer evaluations similar to the E-bay model. The follow-up for all
completed transactions between buyers and sellers includes detailed feedback
forms sent to buyers requesting that they rate the quality of the work.
Ratings are made available to future buyers prior to accepting bids.
